Stripping
PVD coatings and services

This service offered involves removal of old coatings from tools made of high speed steels (HSS) and cemented carbide (HM). Again, this is a pre-coating treatment. There are two different technologies applied on both materials mentioned. Generally there are the following advantages of the employed technologies:

  • Adhesion improvement
  • Improved cutting properties at the chip and shavings lead away
  • Better tool appearance

Stripping of coatings from HSS tools
The principal of this technology is either chemical or electro-chemical etching of worn PVD coatings without disruption of the tool material. It is possible to strip off Ti based coatings (TiN, TiCN, AlTiN, AlSiTiN, etc.) as well as coatings containing Cr (CrN, CrAlN, CrAlSiN, etc.).

Stripping of coatings from HM tools
In this case it is a chemical technology, when the worn coating is stripped off utterly while there is no etching of Co and other materials of tools. This is a rather slow but very gentle technology lasting tens of hours. We are able to strip off all Ti based coatings such as TiN, TiCN, TiAlN, AlTiN and even TiAlSiN.
