SHM has a newly constructed factory in Šumperk's business park. Business park and SHM premises are easily accessible from the main transit road from Bludov to Jeseník.
The company seat of SHM Slovakia lies in reconstructed rented premises in Rajec, Nadrazna 329. It is possible to reach Rajec from three directions – Zilina, Povazska Bystrica a Prievidza. Accessibility from Zilina or Povazska Bystrica is within 20 minutes.
A cooperation of both company owners in research and development in former positions and own development aimed at super hard wear-resistant coating preparation preceded the foundation of SHM.
M. Jílek and P. Holubář founded the company in 1993 and its main direction was a preparation of special PVD coatings.
The first business activity was a preparation of conductive coatings on ceramic insulators, since 1993 – for 6 years SHM participated in a production of new unique automobile spark plugs, which have been produced by a Czech patent owner BRISK Tábor. Development of PVD technology of the coatings preparation was a great success of the new company reached in a highly competitive field of domestic and international R&D institutes and commercial producers.
Since 1994 a preparation of PVD wear-resistant coatings TiN and TiAlN applied on cutting tools has started.
In 1995 a standard hard wear-resistant coating TiAlSiN with parameters reaching top European level, was proved in commercial production. SHM thus became the first company in the world, which has been able to prepare so called nanocrystalline composite coating of nc-(Ti1-xAlx)N/a-Si3N4 type on the industrial scale.
A production of a new type range of indexable inserts with PVD coating c-(Ti1-xAlx)N/a-Si3N4 has begun in PRAMET (todays Pramet Tools) in the same year. Pramet thus became the first company in the world, which offered its cutting tools with a nanocomposite coating.
A very close cooperation with Technical univerzity in Munich, namely with Prof. S. Vepřek, who is an author of nanocomposite coating production concept published in 1995, started in 1996
Since the end of 1998 SHM has begun to offer a new type of PVD coatings under a trademark MARWIN® .
In March 2002 SHM established together with a Swiss company PLATIT AG a new company PIVOT a.s. with its seat in the Czech Republic. The primary objective of the new company is a development, production and servicing of coating units. Nowadays PLATIT AG offers on the market small and medium size coating units π80, PL70 and π300 , which are manufactured by PIVOT.
ISO 9001:2000
In 2005 SHM, s.r.o. has acquired the Certificate of QM system ISO 9001:2000. The Certificate has been presented by the Swiss auditorial reputable SGS company. By obtaining the certificate ISO 9001:2000 we have confirmed our long-term trend to provide quality and complex services to our customers.
On March 30th, 2006, SHM Slovakia, s.r.o. a daughter company seated in Rajec was founded. This company provides full-spectrum services of a coating center in Slovakia. PVD technologies and coating offer are alike the ones in the parent company SHM Šumperk.
